[Poet Spotlight] Kenji C. Liu

Today's Poet Spotlight is Kenji C. Liu is author of Map of an Onion, national winner of the 2015 Hillary Gravendyk Poetry Prize. I first ran across his work ten years ago and have been happily reading his verse since, and I think many of my readers will enjoy his perspective and inventive approach.

Among other places, his poetry appears in American Poetry Review, Action Yes!, Barrow Street Journal, Asian American Literary Review, Split This Rock’s poem of the week series, three anthologies and a chapbook, You Left Without Your Shoes. He has received fellowships from Kundiman, VONA/Voices, Djerassi, and the Community of Writers. Visit him at http://www.kenjiliu.com/

Kenji C. Liu was also a judge for the Science Fiction Poetry Association's Science Fiction Poetry Contest in 2014, and was the poetry editor for the Kartika Review

One of his first publications was"Hou Chi" in Tea Party Magazine in 2007, and he has been regularly getting work out since over the last decade, including his chapbook, You Left Without Your Shoes, from Finishing Line Press, "A Son Writes Back," at Lantern Review, and "Ah Kung in the Phillipine Jungle," in the Collagist. I've particularly appreciated his work in speculative poetry and his use of videopoetics. A particularly fine example of this is his "Anatomy of a ゴジラ(Gojira)"

I'm looking forward to more for him in the future!
